Climate Cafe: a compassionate sharing circle

CLIMATE CAFE: A COMPASSIONATE SHARING CIRCLE

This Climate Cafe was a sharing circle for people who are feeling distress about the climate crisis and its global, local and personal impact. The event created an opportunity to share thoughts and feelings in a small circle of compassionate listeners, in a safe, non-judgmental, advice and agenda free space to speak about your feelings, fears, or uncertainties.

Many people feel disturbed, overwhelmed, and/or anxious about what is currently happening with climate change, as well as what the future holds. Sharing these concerns and feelings with others can help manage those feelings, and possibly be a foundation for taking action. Climate Cafe believes that compassion is a life-affirming, reparative response to the situation. Together, we build our capacity for compassionate listening, both to the words as well as to the substance beneath the words

You may want to attend future circles if:

— you feel alone in your concerns and would like a place to talk about it with others

—you feel distressed by recent events linked to Climate Change

— you are feeling despair or helplessness about the future of the planet or future generations

—you would like a setting where you can feel compassion for others and the world

—you want to be part of a community that is addressing Climate Change

This sharing circle emphasizes listening as much as speaking, listening to others, and the world, with a compassionate spirit. With guided visualizations to activate the sharing, participants then break out into small groups of four for the personal sharing, and opportunity to share with the larger group at the end.

We will be offering this sharing circle again. Check our webpage for additional offerings this year.

This event is moderated by Greg Smith.

ALL ARE WELCOME, REGARDLESS OF AGE, RACE, GENDER, ORIENTATIONS, IMMIGRATION STATUS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, OR CARBON FOOTPRINT
